Filament Cabinet
The filament cabinet has storage for up to 3kg spools of filament. A dessicator unit is powered separately (always on, regardless of machine state). An LED worklight is configured to stay on when the machine is on, but can be toggled off by the operator. Filament "push" drives and filament detectors are located in the filament cabinet. A temperature and humidity sensor monitors and reports to the controller, but does not control the dessicator operation. Lastly, there is a cabinet switch which will trigger a logging event on an open or close condition (time and humidity are logged).
Indicator lamp
The indicator lamp is green when the machine is ready for a job (Homed, pressurized, and not in any other faults state). Otherwise, the lamp is red.
Emergency stop
The emergency stop once pressed will stop machine operation by immediately cutting the 24V and 48V power (the controller will continue to be powered by 5V supply). If this happens during a job, the machine will try to automatically pause job and run an E-Stop routine. Releasing the E-Stop will initiate a recovery routine, and will try to allow you to unpause the job from the Job Status screen. This should restart the spindles and/or extruder heaters, and resume the job from the previous position, however it is often safer to restart the job manually.
Toolchanger gantry
The toolchanger gantry stores milling tools when not in operation. The rack contains 14 positions which can be loaded by hand. The gantry is self-homing during machine startup, and will not require any attention during normal operation.
Turret
The turret travels along the Z-axis while rotating around the "U" axis. It contains a unique load out of 5 tools for your additive and subtractive operations (H5 CNC Lite machines have 2 spindles, 3 print heads, and a touch probe. CNC Full machines have one spindle, 3 print heads, and a touch probe). The U axes will never need to be moved during daily operations as the machine automatically controls them as necessary. The tool positions count from the probe and proceed counter-clockwise around the toolhead.
Enclosure
The enclosure can be closed to contain chips and reduce noise. When closed, the front panel contacts a switch. When the front panel is opened during a job, the job will be paused. All three panels can be removed.
Electrical Cabinet
The electrical cabinet contains the power supplies, controllers, spindle driver, and compressed air switches and routing. It should not be necessary to open the electrical cabinet during normal operation, but it is nevertheless helpful to know approximately where things are:
Tooling plate/bed
The Tooling Plate and Print Bed are removable and general-purpose build platforms. The Tooling Plate is appropriate for vises, rotary axes, toe clamps, or directly-attached work. The Print Bed can be heated up to 100C and is appropriate for 3-axis 3D printing and wax workholding.
Pendant
The pendant is a useful interface to the machine when a computer is not present or convenient. Many of the most common maintenance and setup operations can be performed from the pendant, and the scroll wheel offers tactile feedback when jogging the machine axes.
