Swapping Between Tools
To swap between active tools, click on the name of the desired tool in the tool control interface. The currently active tool will be highlighted. To change to Tool 5 from the probe, click on Tool 5 in the interface menu.
Note: as of Firmware 2.05, if the machine does NOT have a filament assist drive, then the Tool 5 will be a pulldown menu, from which you should choose "select tool"
The turret will rotate to the new active toolhead, then and automatically adjust the machine X, Y, and Z position to maintain the current coordinates based on the tool offset. (i.e. - if T5 has an X offset of 6mm, and you change tools from the Probe to T5, then the machine will move 6mm in X to maintain the same tool position)
Controlling the FDM Extruder
Once Tool 5 has been selected, the machine will set the Tool 5 to an active state. The nozzle status can be cycled through 3 different states by clicking on Nozzle 5 under the Heater column: Active, Standby, or Off. Non-selected toolheads can be cycled between Standby and Off.
The Current column will show the current temperature of each nozzle as read by the thermistor. The Active and Standby temperatures for each extruder can be set by typing the desired temperature into box and pressing enter or by choose a temperature from the drop down menu. The extruder will either heat up or cool down to the set temperature its current status. Note: only the column associated with current State of the Nozzle will have an affect - the Standby column will only change the temperature of a tool in a Standby state, and the Active column will only change the temperature of a tool in an Active state. Be careful, because you can set the Standby temperature of an Active tool, then change to a different tool, and the previously set temperature will then go into effect.
The Extruder Control section allows the control of extruding or retracting a set feed amount of filament at a set feedrate. The highlighted option is the current set choice for how much will be extruded or retracted. Additional values can be set by Right-clicking on one of the options and typing a new amount. The Extrude and Retract buttons will only become available once the Active Tool is above a certain temperature.
In the Miscellaneous section of the Machine Control tab, you can control the extruder cooling fans. Each extruder fan is chained together, so turning the cooling fans on for the active toolhead will also power the cooling fans for the other extruders. To enable the fan, drag the Print Fan control over to 100%.
Controlling the Spindle Tool
Activating a Spindle tool will set the machine into CNC mode. To set the speed of the spindle, click on the box and type in the desired speed. The Current column will show the current speed of the spindle. The spindles will revert to 0 RPM any time they are switched out from being the active tool, or when a Job is paused.
Additional options for controlling the spindle tools can be found under the Miscellaneous tab. These spindle controls will open up the valves to allow compress air to blow onto the tool. These can be controlled even when the tool is not Active. To enable, drag the desired spindle over to 100%.
