The H-Series machine is designed as a CNC machine and will behave differently from 3D printing machines. The machine utilizes a variety of tools and work spaces with varying limitations and so it is possible to crash the machine.
There are also several points of caution when operating the machine. Hands should be kept away from the Y-axis as there is a potential for pinching. The area beneath the turret is also a main concern during operation as it operates with enough force to crush anything beneath it.
The turret also contains several tools that will be operating at temperatures around 200°C and sharp spinning tools.
Operating the H-Series Machine
There are several key buttons on the interface that will help to reduce the risk of crashing the machine. Home All will rotate the turret to the probe and send each axis to the limits of each axis before sending the bed to the absolute origin point, (x=0 and y=0).
Clicking on Home X will move the bed along the X-axis until it reaches the X limit switch. Clicking Home Y will send the bed along the Y-axis until it hits the Y limit switch.
Clicking on Home Z will not actually send the turret to the limit switch, instead it will switch to the probe position and send the machine down until the probe hits a surface before sending the turret to the limit switch. This operation is measuring the total height of the z-axis and finding where Z=0 is. This operation needs to be done any time a work space is changed to help avoid crashing the machine.
The movement along the axis are defined from the point of view of the probe. The tool offsets that will are discussed later explain to the machine where the tool is in relation to the probe. Any change to the tools or their position will require the tool to be re-calibrated.
The indicated buttons in the preceding figure will move the machine along the indicated axis a specified distance. A positive Y change will move the bed towards the front of the machine while a positive X change will move the bed towards the right. A positive Z will move the turret farther away from the bed.
