Once you are confident the machine is installed and prepared on the workbench, home all the axes with the HOME ALL button. The bed should move to the back right of the build volume, the Z axes should move up and the turret should rotate to its home position. All the "Home X, Y, etc" buttons should turn blue. One common issue is that the X-axis does not home (HOME X button remains yellow) because the bellows are installed too tightly (bracket is too close to the machine. If this happens, check the bellows bracket location and move slightly outboard. If the machine fails to home in other axes, contact Diabase for support.
You are now ready for your first print to confirm the operation of your machine. Included with your machine are several sample filaments already preloaded. Make sure that you remove the zip ties holding the filament in place from shipping before sending any jobs. The filaments are:
- T3 - Sample of 85A filament
- T4 - Sample of 95A filament
- T5 - Sample of PETG or 75D filament
It is important to wipe down the bed surface before any print to remove any dust or debris that may be sitting on there. This will help with adhesion to the bed surface. For the Kapton surface, we recommend using acetone as a cleaning solution.
Under the "Gcode Files" tab you will see a file called diabase-multiprint-logo.gcode (an updated file will also be attached to this tutorial.) Click on the file to run the gcode:
Wait approximately one hour for the print to complete.
Squirt a little bit of acetone around the edges of the print and use the provided scraper to gently lift the edge, allowing acetone to move under the print with capillary action. Continue gently wedging the scraper underneath the print to remove the part from the bed.
Congratulations! You have finished your first 3D print on an H-Series Machine and your machine is fully set up.
